Meet The Couple

Rabbi Daniel Albert and Marjorie Albert

Rabbi Daniel grew up in Plainview, NY. After a year of learning in Yeshivat Lev HaTorah in Ramat Beit Shemesh, he studied at Queens College where he graduated with a BS in Design. He was very involved in both Hillel and JLIC at Queens College holding multiple leadership roles. Rabbi Daniel’s connection with JLIC at Queens College inspired him to want to work with JLIC. Rabbi Daniel was also part of the Nachshon Project as both an undergraduate and graduate fellow. He then went on to receive a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing and Media as well as Semicha from RIETS at Yeshiva University.

Meet The Couple

Meet Shira Boshnack

Shira Boshnack, a 15 year JLIC veteran, continues the vibrant legacy, connecting with Alumni of the Brooklyn college programming. She is tasked with maintaining the unique community in the great borough of Brooklyn, and helping them transitioning from college life to young professionals and families. She teaches Kindergarten and First grade in Yeshiva Darkei Eres and is a Kallah teacher, having taught over 700 women.

Rabbi Albert has been a beacon of inspiration throughout my sophomore and freshman year of college and I would not trade them for anything.

My JLIC leadership has consistently been open and welcoming, especially for me—a freshman. Furthermore, I have found the rabbi and his wife to be exceptionally skilled in creating a fun environment, whether that be for their biweekly learning session, their numerous events, or even just in one-on-one conversations.

My JLIC provides a religious space to meet other Jews from all around the Brooklyn area. Thanks to that, I have met people from many different communities in Brooklyn. I am exceptionally grateful for that. I am also grateful for the actual space they’ve created; I now have a Jewish space to hang out by on Shabbat and holidays, whereas I didn’t before college

I was nervous after high school that I wouldn't have any sort of Jewish life involved in my college career, but they have been crucial and have helped me sustain that connection to my Judaism.

I always look forward to the fun events being held and the amazing Shabbat dinners and onegs. JLIC truly enriches the campus Jewish community. They have always welcomed me with open arms.

The way they show up for students, create community, and treat people with genuine kindness has honestly shaped how I think about my own Jewish identity. They make Judaism feel approachable and real, and their consistency and sincerity definitely influence the kind of person I want to be.
